Our Programs

Qupanuaq Programs leverage CFI and other funding sources to design and facilitate programs for Inuit children in the Qikiqtaaluk region of Nunavut.

The Uqquutillugit Parka Program

We employ local seamstresses to make custom parkas for children in their own communities. We aim to keep kids warm while investing in the local economy. For more information, contact us.

Two people are cutting large pieces of frozen fish on a table. One person is using a large knife, and the other is holding a cleaver. Various cuts of fish are spread out, alongside some knives and a can of seasoning.

Inuliqtait Country Food Box

We partner with Qajuqturvik Food Centre to fund and distribute country food to up to 25 Inuit families in Iqaluit free of charge. This program is referral only. Visit the Qajuqturvik Food Centre website if you would like to purchase an Inuliqtait Country Food Box on your own.

Beds

Qupanuaq has received group funding to provide bed frames, mattresses, and bedding for children in the Qikiqtani region. If your child has not already received CFI funding for a bed in the last two years and you are interested in this program please contact us.

Two children are interacting in a bedroom with bunk beds. The child on the top bunk, dressed in a blue shirt, is smiling at the camera. The lower bunk has another child who is looking up at the top bunk. The room has a door to the left and various items on the beds.

Bassinet Program

Qupanuaq has partnered with the Government of Nunavut Department of Health to supply bassinets to every newborn in the Qikiqtaaluk region. Contact your local health centre or public health nurse for more information on where to get a bassinet for your baby.

Speech and Behavioural Therapies

Qupanuaq collaborates with the Department of Rehabilitation at Qikiqtani General Hospital  to provide speech and behavioural therapies across the Qikiqtaaluk region. Our hybrid model of in-person and virtual appointments ensures that clients are receiving year-round services. Each client is provided with a device with cellular connection to participate in therapy. This program is referral only through a health professional in your child’s circle of care.

A person is assembling various black plastic building blocks on a white surface. Their hands are in the process of connecting pieces, with multiple blocks scattered around. The person is wearing a light blue long-sleeved shirt.
A young girl with brown hair and orange-framed glasses smiles warmly, looking slightly to the side. She is holding her hand up near her face. The image is slightly blurred with hints of pink and red objects in the foreground.

Blind-Low Vision Early Intervention Program

Early intervention helps young children with visual impairment build their capacity to meet development and communication goals. We have partnered with Surrey Place to ensure that visually impaired Inuit children in the Qikiqtaaluk region have access to early intervention. To access these services, ask your child’s paediatrician for a referral to Qupanuaq.

Iqaluit ASD Caregivers Support Group

In partnership with local professionals, Qupanuaq hosts a monthly support group in Iqaluit for families with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder. We provide onsite childcare and taxi vouchers for participants. For more information, contact us.
