Child First Initiative:
An Overview

Inuit Child First Initiative (CFI) is a program funded by the Government of Canada to ensure Inuit children are able to access the health, education and social supports and services they need in order to thrive. It is the Inuit equivalent of Jordan’s Principle.

Two young children walk together on a rocky terrain. The girl on the left is wearing a pink jacket, while the boy on the right sports a red and blue jacket with a baseball cap. The background shows a vast, open landscape with a clear sky.
Three women sit together at a wooden table, engaged in a discussion. Two of them are looking at documents with smiles, while the third woman, sitting to the right, looks on attentively with a laptop in front of her. The background features various papers on the wall.

How our team can help with CFI

Qupanuaq provides CFI service coordination for the Qikiqtani region of Nunavut. We help families apply for CFI funding through referral from service providers. We also provide wrap-around supports for children and families by engaging in service navigation, advocacy, and assisting in procurement of good and services.
